QUIRKY

ABOUT THE PROJECT

Project Value: $5 Million

Project Role: Project Lead - Project Manager and Project Super

  • Lead a field team of over 150 consultants and tradesman to build out this 30,000 sq. ft., $5 million flagship office for crowdsourced product developer Quirky in 11 Weeks.
  • Project was highlighted as one of the 20 World’s Coolest Offices in 2012. See article link below.
  • The original schedule for this project was 14 weeks with 2 weeks for punch list bringing the total to 16 weeks. After suffering delays at the beginning of the project receiving construction permits, the schedule was reduced to 11 weeks. Due to lease obligations, the client would have had to pay an extra month of rent at their current office if the 11 week schedule could not be achieved.
  • By managing the sub-contractors as well as the design team on the project, the project was built out on time (11 weeks) and within budget, while saving the client several thousand dollars on rental expenditure on their office.
  • Project Features:
  • In 2012, this was the first office project built out in a Chelsea warehouse building originally built in 1875. In the preceding years, I have been brought back by this client and by building management to perform office build outs for Wink, Canary, Flex and Uber.
  • Fully functioning work shop incorporated into the office including laser cutter and CNC Machine.
  • Interactive presentation space, including recording studios for online video interaction all built into dynamic Lutron system with iPad control.
